Watts Towers
Category: Wildcard
Los Angeles: Everytime I'm in LA, I try to visit Watts Towers, a brilliantly inspiring piece of eclectic art in one the worst parts of what is often derided as a souless city.
A man named Simon Rodia decided on a whim to start building incredibly tall and ornate towers in his backyard in the 1920s. He used concrete, scrap metal, broken bottles and ceramics to build bizarre and whimsical towers almost 100 feet high. Of course nowadays he'd probably be arrested. Pity. It's things like this that keep life interesting.

Once again, Nick Aster photography (or at least a photo put up on an NA site) has become the wallpaper on my PC at work. Once again, the Watts Towers inspires.
pardon my grammar, that's "a NA site"
Very nice! Be sure to thank mr. brian mackie for posing in that photo... ;-)
I lived in Watts for 20 years and now I'm in the Army and I travel all over the world and I still haven't seen anything that has moved me more than the Watts Towers. I haven't see them in Three years but when I close my eyes they are right there showing me what one single man can do.
