Local Harvest Finder

Category: Environment

Your Neighborhood: One of the most important, and often overlooked, things to consider when "buying green" is the distance your food traveled to get to you.

You can buy fabulous organic produce, but if it's shipped 1000s of miles (like the Israeli tomatoes I accidentally bought the other day), you're defeating many of the environmental benefits (how many gallons of gasoline did I inadvertantly buy?) that organic or family farming is supposed to provide.

Anyway, through the power of the internet - simply enter your zip code or city in the box below, and you will be provided with a list of local producers that you can patronize to reduce transport costs (of all types) as well as spend your money locally. Of course there's a limit to how much honey you can buy, but still pretty cool....
