Golden Gate Bridge bike rails

Category: Cycling

San Francisco: Since 1937, the only thing separating people from traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge was about 10 inches of space and a low barrier that made for a hair-raising experience when 2 cyclists passed each other. I've never heard of anyone falling into the road, but I'm sure it's happened. Anyway, safety rails have finally been installed separating the sidewalk from the roadway, while still maintaining perfect harmony with the bridge's design. I never thought the design of handrails would be so interesting!
