Dead End Fire Exits
Category: Design

Hong Kong: These photos were sent in by 'DickStock' from Hong Kong (thanks!). They show a dead-end door at the International Finance Centre that is labeled as a fire exit. The door literally opens into what is essentially a closet... hmmm.

maybe it would be a good place to go if a bomb was going to go off

I recently discovered that these ARE fire exits. I didn't notice that a large steel wall drops from the ceiling, dividing the huge mall into isolated sectors. These little "dead-end cubicles" are actually the route from one area to another, allowing an escape from smoke and flames.
Never mind.
