Debunking the Gated "Community" Myth

Category: Urban Planning

gated_watch.jpgLos Angeles: Gated "communities" are among the most insideous type of development sprining forth in the US these days, spawned of 50% paranoia, 50% pretension. I love this idea and shall be attempting to steal it and spread the word around where I live in portugal, where for 10% paranoia and 90% pretension the ghastly gated communities are springing up.

I used your story as a post on urbancartography.com, and cited you. Thank you, again, for always having such great content. Cheers.

Funny idea.

In reality, though, I think the reason many people buy into these is that because of the first two points, you get a pretty big jump in appreciation. So, add "greed" to the mix. :)
