Renegade Art

Category: Design

owl.jpgMontreal: Normally, I can't stand graffiti. It's usually crude, ugly and causes property damage. However, if done properly, even unsolicited markings can be interesting, artistic, and thought provoking. (Andre the Giant, for example). In the case of Roadsworth in Montreal, it's also adds whimsy to the urban fabric, quite literally.

Throughout Montreal this gang of jokesters (or perhaps a lone individual) has added perching owls to crosswalks, zippers to medians, velvet ropes to pedestrian crossings and loads more amusing sights. Technically, it may be graffiti, but I don't think it causes much harm, and it definitely makes the street life more intriguing.
