Adjusting for Nature's Magnificence
Category: Urban Planning
Larkspur, CA: Here's a great example of how much nicer it is to sometimes let nature have its course. This street in Larkspur, CA has been built around a beautiful old tree (probably an Oak, but my botany knowledge is terrible). It's particularly notable that this is a relatively old neighborhood, so someone was thinking really long term when this street was laid out. Anyway, it's refreshing & inspiring and probably relaxes traffic and makes the street safer too!

As someone who grew up near Larkspur and was inspired by the way nature was nurtured by the town I can attest to the power of living is such a cool town.
Nothing quite calms traffic, and nothing quite elevates the spirit like coming around the bend and seeing the asphalt yielding to a tree.
