Ripping up Downtown Freeways
Category: Urban Planning
Nashville: Taking a cue from the success being enjoyed in Milwaukee, Nashville has issued a recommendation to do away with the ring of interstate freeway surrounding its downtown area.
The replacement - a ring of attractive boulevards that reconnect downtown with the revitalized surrounding area. It's an ambitious plan that may take 50 years to realize, but it's proof yet again that America is getting its act together with regards to repairing and re-valuing our cities.
