Mission Bay Redevelopment

Category: Urban Planning

San Francisco: A 300 acre mega project can go in all sorts of directions, but the redevelopment of San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood appears to be heading in a very positive one.

It all started with the construction of the new baseball stadium in an otherwise forlorn, and largely vacant, corner of the city. An extension of the MUNI light rail system, an all new rail line to the south, the proximity of the Caltrain station, and the sunniest weather in town all conspire to raise the potential of Mission Bay.

Of course, it will probably never have the clapboard charm of some of San Francisco's more famous neighborhoods, but given 50 years or so, it might really become something.
